Coming up with inspirational business ideas can be tricky. Oh sure, you can explore what your strengths, passions, and skills are, but then what? How do you turn those strengths and passions into a business?
If your strengths don’t lend themselves easily to one particular business idea, you may need some inspiration. Or, if you’re not concerned with following your passion at the moment, you just want a side hustle to make some extra cash, you just need an idea.
Here are 15 inspirational business ideas:
You can start an online magazine to sell on iTunes. You can build an app (several app creation programs make this easy to do without coding). You can create crafts, clothing, shoes, jewelry, woodworking, or decorations. You can start a new podcast or write a book. What do you enjoy creating?
2. Delivery and Errands
What do you wish someone would deliver or take care of for you? It could be grocery shopping (or Target/Walmart, drugstore, or another type of shopping). Perhaps it’s running to the post office, dry cleaner, car wash or another kind of errand. Or, it could be getting kids and bringing them home or taking them to appointments or practices. People always need help with errands and delivery.
If you are a decent cook, people are willing to pay you to do this for them. Home chefs today only spend a couple of hours in someone’s home preparing meals for them to freeze and use during the week. It doesn’t require daily visits or delivery of hot food. One day per week of cooking in your client’s kitchen (not your own for health purposes), can bring in an extra $300/month per client. You can also provide other food for the week such as school or work lunches, snacks, desserts, and breakfasts.
4. Rent Out Items
Do you have things you can rent out to others? It could be fancy clothing such as gowns, tuxes, or other high-end items people would want for a single event or party (but otherwise can’t afford). It could be household items such as kitchen supplies, garden supplies, or tools. Heck, it could even be jewelry, games, technology, or space (extra rooms or storage areas).
5. Sell Something
You can sell items for yourself or someone else. Many people have something they want to get rid of but don’t want to take the time to deal with eBay, Craigslist, and the like. They would love someone to handle this for them for a small fee.
Are you pretty handy at researching stuff online? Do you love digging around for reviews, details, and the latest news? If so, you can research for other people. It could be finding sources for someone writing a paper or news article. It could be researching competition or a market for businesses. It could even be researching and compiling lists for clients.
What are people always asking you for help with? What are you good at that you can teach others? You can create a training video or a book. You can hold classes in your home or the local community college. You can even teach for the local parks & recreation association. What knowledge can you share with folks?
This is like teaching but with more one-on-one guidance. Are you an ex-college or pro athlete (or current athlete)? Can you train others in that sport? Or can you coach someone in business, test taking, college applications, or driving? What can you help people achieve?
Are you super social? Do you have a huge social media following and love talking to people? You might be great at promotion. You can use your influence to promote products, restaurants, and businesses for a fee. You can promote events, grand openings, new hot spots, and much more.
Do you love to try out new things? If so, you can review those things for a profit. You can write a review in a blog, book, or magazine article or you can have a regular podcast to talk about your reviews. You can even have a Youtube channel with your reviews.
Do you enjoy planning things? Love crafting the perfect vacation? Dream of wedding ideas? Can you throw a killer party? Consider planning these things professionally.
Are you a master organizer? Love to create a place for everything so everything can be in its place? Consider organizing homes, offices, or other spaces as a career.
Love capturing things on film? Can you spend hours editing and crafting a cool video? Create a business videotaping stuff for people. It could be sports (for children or adults), events, parties, speeches, or weddings. It could be videos of locations (to review hotels, real estate, or certain destinations). There are a thousand different things people may want to capture on video.
Don’t mind typing stuff up for people? Consider becoming a transcriber. People are always seeking help transcribing podcasts, speeches, notes, papers, books, and more.

Have a knack for taking care of people, pets, or things? Start a business caring for people’s pets, kids, cars, homes, or anything else they need help with.
