It always seems impossible until it’s done. – Nelson Mandela
Welcome to Day 20 of the 20-Day Business Startup Challenge! You’ve come a long way and have opened for business. Today I’m going to give you some tools and resources so you can gain momentum and grow your new business.
You’ve done it! You’ve opened your own business and are ready to start growing it. But, what is the best way to do that? How do you know what will work?
A large part of your growth will be trial and error. As I mentioned in Day 19, once you start getting customers you’ll begin learning what they want and how best to serve them. You can then pivot and shift your offerings and processes to better accommodate them.
The first step of growth is to continue with steps I talked about on Day 19 (publicity, building relationships, and attending events). Then, learn from the experts.
Here are some of the people, tools, and resources I recommend:
Developed by Chris Ducker, Youpreneur is a phenomenal source for learning how to grow your business. If you can, join the academy when it opens (only opens once or twice per year). The video library alone is worth the cost. Chris has compiled hours of live talks from business experts in all sorts of fields.
Also, there’s a community forum for bouncing ideas back and forth and making connections. There are live Mastermind calls so you can get your specific questions answered and brainstormed. Truly, I can’t say enough about it. Check it out; it is well worth the investment.
Learn how to guest post
If a blog is part of your business, learning how to guest post on bigger blogs will help drive traffic to your website. As Ramit Sethi says, “While many new bloggers write content and pray for others to come, proactive bloggers reach out to others in their field, write amazingly good content, and quickly build a name for themselves.”
Some great articles on how to guest post are:

Pat Flynn has created a fantastic podcast for new entrepreneurs. Each week he interviews incredibly successful people who share their secrets.
Every podcast has been helpful to me, even when I think the topic is not relevant to my field. It’s free to subscribe and well worth the 30-45 minutes you spend listening each week. Check out prior episodes as well, currently over 200 of them.
Peter Shankman is a customer service expert and has built some remarkable businesses (including HARO, which we spoke about on Day 19). If you have a chance to hear him speak, don’t hesitate for a second. He’s funny and genuinely wants to help you succeed. Check out his blog and books at the link above.
When visiting the links above, be sure to stay awhile and check out their blogs, podcasts, and books. These people are experts in building businesses and have so much they can teach you. They have been integral to me in many ways, and I recommend each and every one.
In the last 20 days, you have built a new business from scratch. You are remarkable. Do you realize you have done more than 80% of people who dream of owning their own business? 80%!
